Cattle Rustling: Miyetti Allah seeks clampdown on “illegal groups”

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) North-West zonal chapter has called on governors of Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna States to clamp down on groups such as, Yan Banga, Yan Sakai or Kato da Gora, who they allege kill pastoralists and loot their property. Miyetti Allah said the groups are illegal.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting yesterday in Kaduna and signed by the group’s Deputy National President, Alhaji Ya’u Mohammed.
“The criminal activities of vigilante groups known as Yan Banga, Yan Sa Kai and Kato da Gora, who engage in killing innocent Fulani cattle rearers and looting their animals are giving us concern. The fact that cattle rustlers are operating like men of the underworld is making it difficult to arrest them. Encroachment into stock routes and grazing reserves is on the increase”, the group said.
The association noted the success recorded so far  and commended the efforts of the North-West state governors in fighting against cattle rustling.
