He said that every Nigerian ought to know the various causes of building collapse so as to guard against its occurrence.
He said that  the common causes of building collapse in Nigeria have been traced to faulty design, poor construction production practice, use of low quality materials, hasty construction, foundation failure, absence effective building production management, non enforcement of provisions of building codes, and lack of proper maintenance.
“Going by the citation from past researches, it could be inferred that the collapse of building in Nigeria is becoming increasingly rampant and if not curbed by proffering measures to counter the menace, it would lead to a more devastating challenges in future,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to always engage the service of builders in their building construction, adding that they should not be mistakenly for political contractors.
“The public had interchangeably used the word builder in place of contractor. It is good to correct this. Going by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) act of Federal Republic of Nigeria, i.e.  Act CAP B13 of 2004 LFN. A builder is an academically trained specialist, statutorily registered professional who is responsible for building, production, management, construction and maintenance for the use and protection of mankind. In other words, the builder is the professional that makes use of inputs of other professionals in the built environment to construct buildings.”
