CBN, Dantata to create 20,000 jobs in Cross River

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Dantata Foods and Allied Products Company Limited are partnering with the Cross River State government to create 20,000 jobs in the agro-processing industry.

The partnership has the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Feed the Future Agribusiness Activity and Zenith Bank PLC as co-partners.

The Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, disclosed this in Calabar while briefing the press shortly after a partnership meeting with the CBN governor and the leadership of Dantata Conglomerate.

Prof. Ayade said the development is one of the exciting moments in his administration as 20,000 youths would be engaged across  10 value chains which include aquaculture, poultry, livestock, rice, maize, soybean, groundnut and cotton.

The CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, represented by his special adviser, Chief Anthony Ifechiku, at the event, said the bank has set aside money for job creation in the agribusiness industry and that Cross River State is now eminently qualified to access the funds.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dantata Foods and Allied Products Company Limited, Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, stated that the company has designed a special agric intervention project to harness the huge potentials of the state to create direct and indirect jobs.

Alh. Dantata also said the company would soon establish a multi-production agro-processing factory which would provide immediate employment to the teeming youths in the state.
