According to the Ambassador, Dionysios Sourvanos, “The programme is specially tailored for Abuja’s audience, highlighting various aspects and the enormous possibilities of a classical chamber music ensemble of such stature.”

The event which took place at the Lagos Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, began with pure classical quartet by Mozart, in G minor, followed by virtuosic pieces of inspired transcriptions and arrangements of the Hungarian Rhapsody, which is a popular sound track of the Tom and Jerry cartoon; El Tango de Roxanne which also was a soundtrack for award-winning Moulin Rouge movie; Libertango; Caravan, Syrtaki from the movie Zorba the Greek; Rossini’s The Barber of Serville; as well as a surprise tribute to Nigeria.

Guests present were joyous for the occasion as it gave them something new to relax and relish their evening with. “It is a good evening tonic for us and really what I would like to describe as a rare delight,” said Mr. Abraham Addo. “It is interesting to enjoy such ambiance created by the foreign missions.

The award-winning quartet is made up of four soloists, Stella Tsani – violin, Mikhail Smirnov- viola, Lefki Colovou – cello and Thomas Kontogeorgis – piano who first performed together in 2003 as ‘Art’ before being renamed ‘Ellemis’ shortly after. They have to their credit a well received seventy-six minute long album released in 2004 and a second one, Eikones released in 2010.
