Celebrity Carpenter Granted Bail, Says He’s Confident Justice Will Prevail

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday granted bail to renowned craftsman and entrepreneur, Mr. Moses Amiebenomo, popularly known as “The Celebrity Carpenter.”

He was recently arraigned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on allegations relating to family and domestic matters.

Presiding over the case, Justice Bello Kawu ruled that the decision to grant bail was at the discretion of the court, stressing the importance of fairness and due process. The matter was adjourned to February 3, 2026, for further hearing.

“I have listened carefully to the application from both counsels. Bail remains a discretionary power of the court, whether opposed or supported,” the judge stated. The prosecuting counsel did not oppose the bail application.

Speaking to journalists after the sitting, lead counsel to the defendant, Barr. Ibrahim Amiebenomo, expressed satisfaction with the ruling.

“We are pleased with today’s outcome and appreciate the trial judge’s sense of justice and purpose. The court has again demonstrated that justice can neither be delayed nor denied,” he said.

He explained that the case arose from a family disagreement, adding that his client looks forward to clearing his name through the judicial process.

Mr. Amiebenomo, speaking briefly after the hearing, said he remained confident that the truth would emerge at the end of the trial.

“I have absolute faith in the Nigerian judiciary. I believe justice will prevail,” he said calmly.

Also present in court was the defendant’s father, Barr. Dr. Idris Amiebenomo, who expressed optimism that the legal process would bring clarity and resolution.

The prosecuting counsel declined to comment, stating that she was not authorized by NAPTIP to speak on the matter.

Mr. Moses Amiebenomo, known for redefining traditional craftsmanship, is the founder of the Segesse College of Traditional Carpentry (SCTC) — Africa’s first academy integrating indigenous carpentry with modern design. He currently resides in Abuja with his family.

As the next hearing approaches, supporters and admirers within the creative and business community have expressed confidence in the judicial process and the rule of law.
