The Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Kaduna State Branch, has secured the release of four inmates of Kaduna Medium Custodial Centre, after paying their fines.

The society also presented food, drugs and household items to inmates.

The acting chairman of the society, Alhaji Fasasi Akintunde, said the gesture was part of the activities to commemorate the society’s centenary celebration. 

The freed inmates were Bitrus Daniel (32), Monday Clement (32), Suleiman Aminu (22), and Abdul Salisu (18) from Kaduna prison.

He said the society, in the last 100 years, has established and nurtured hundreds of primary schools, scores of secondary schools, two teachers’ training colleges across the country, and a university in Offa, Kwara State.

“The celebration, which commences in August, will be concluded with honorary awards for those who have contributed immensely to the development of the society, and other programmes in Abuja and Lagos from December 17-21, 2023. 

“We appeal to the government at all levels to provide necessary social amenities to ameliorate the suffering of the citizens,” he said. 

Bitrus Daniel, one of the freed inmates thanked the society for securing their release and assured of good conduct henceforth.

Daily Trust reports that the Kaduna branch of the society was founded in 1941.
