The Abuja Centenary City Management has signed an agreement with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for the provision of infrastructure for the Phase 1 Centenary City project after almost 11 years of Hiatus.

The Managing Director of the Centenary City, Dr. Michael Odenigwe Jr who made the disclosure at a Press conference stated that the Phase 1 Primary Infrastructure is to cost N750 billion. He said, “The project will be executed in lots, as Lot 1 includes the Plot Access Road of 4.3 km and the Secondary lot includes the Grove Residences, the Safari Park Residences and the Infrastructure of Ridge Villas.”

He added that Also, Messers Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (DAR) Which coordinated the master plan of the city iS retained to execute the Detailed engineering Design of the entire project.

Speaking further, he said, “The Centenary City is conceptualized as the foremost Abuja Urban Renewable Project and the idea of engaging Julius Berger and other reputable companies is to guarantee the development of the city according to the vision reflected in the original master plan and to present an opportunity to create value and raise international investment in Abuja, and the entire amound estimated for the project is about N2.4 trillion ($1.6bn).”

 

 

 

The MD further stated that Abuja has over 6 million residents, but lamented that the infrastructure is not growing with the city, hence the need to build the centenary city estimated to take about 10 to 15yrs.
