Patsilver Educational Support and Therapy Centre, on Thursday, launched a magazine on children with special needs.
This is as it transitioned some of the children into mainstream schools.
Evelyn Mensah Agu, a Certified Autism Specialist and Program Director of the centre, said the magazine would help enrich and empower parents who have children with special needs.
“I do a lot of assessments for parents who are children with special needs. I noticed most of the time they walk into my office and by the time they are leaving, they get empowered about things I tell them that they didn’t know. So the magazine would enrich and empower parents with information.”

“There is a lot of information on how to manage children with special needs; science that parents need to look out for. The magazine would be helpful to mainstream educators as well,” she said.
Ina Okopi Agu, husband of the centre’s program director, said: “The centre started a couple of years ago. And the intent of this is to foster inclusion between neurotypical typical children and children with special needs. Before this time, parents would usually hide such children in their houses because of stigma. So, the centre was set to foster inclusion between them and the neurotypical children.”
