Centre partners Kano emirate to educate 19 LGAs on nutrition

The development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) in partnership with Kano Emirate Council Committee on Health (KECCoH) have organized a sensitization meeting with traditional community leaders in 19 local governments of Kano state on the need to have an improved routine immunization, effective nutrition and exclusive breast feeding among other children’s lifesaving approaches.

Speaking on behalf of dRPC in Nassarawa local government area, Hajiya Jummai Bello of dRPC highlighted the advantages of effective utilization of crops easily accessed within the community for nutritional value extraction.

According to her the centre has been working with KECCoH in the health sector through engaging stakeholders and community leaders in ensuring effective health service provision especially to children and mothers adding that, as important as children and mother’s health is, there is a need for the community to fully get involve in addressing the isues hence the sensitization training for community leaders.

Addressing participants, the District Head of Nassarawa Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero stated that, the stunted growth in children experienced in some areas is as a result of lack of good nutrition, exclusive breast feeding as required and other related issues affecting children below five years adding that such deficiencies has resulted to the death of many children across the region.
