Center for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) Bayero University Kano revealed that it has over the last 2 years spent over N33 million in support of students conducting research for the improvement of dryland agriculture.

This was disclosed by CDA deputy director training professor Sanusi Muhammed during the opening session of stakeholders’ workshop on curriculum review of CDA postgraduate academic programmes.

According to him, it is in the interest of the centre to produce highly skilled manpower and research products that will address the challenges of agricultural development adding that it was in the same vain that the centre has spent the said amount in support of good research proposals presented before it as findings of such researches will contribute to the development of the centre.

Similarly, the director of CDA professor Jibrin M. Jibrin stated that at the end of the workshop it is expected that the current programme and curricular will be critically assessed to determine if they are still relevant and adequate, and if not, what are the adjustment and improvements needed.

While declaring the workshop open Vice-Chancellor Bayero University Kano, professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello added that the workshop is the last phase of the curriculum review process and urge all participants to give their highly valued contributions to the success of the workshop.
