A Benin High Court has ordered the police to produce one Dumez Onaiwu Ugiagbe, the member-elect representing Ovia North-East I at the Edo State House of Assembly, in court on November 1 to face trial.

The member-elect is facing a six-count-charge of forgery punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code.

According to the charge sheet, the accused made false document in the name of Oniawu Ugiagbe Dumez by altering the original passport of the Western Africa School Certificate Examination and superimposing his passport photograph with the intention that it may be used as genuine document.

Other charges preferred against him are impersonation, false pretence as well as disguising as original person who sat for the examination between November/December 2001.

When the case came up on Friday, the defendant was not in court.

The prosecuting counsel, Peter Ojo, had told the court that the accused, who was arrested in Abuja and granted bail, was not in court to take his plea.
