A chairmanship candidate of the PDP during the last council elections in Gwagwalada Area Council, Mohammed Ibrahim Ibwa, has dumped the party for the ruling APC.
Ibwa, who said he was defecting with over 5,000 of his supporters across the 10 wards of the council, was received into the APC by the FCT Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, House of Representatives Member, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, and Chairman of the council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, on Saturday.
Alhaji Usman, while addressing the defectors, said he was grateful to God for the influx of such personalities into APC, describing it as a plus to the party.
He commended them for their bold step in joining the ruling party, noting that their decision was a clear indication that the present administration had performed credibly well such that it attracted their interest. He urged them to be loyal to the government and the leadership of the party.
He said there was no disparity between the old and new members of the party as, “We have a fair ground for all members to contest for an election and selection for appointment as long as you have the required credentials for such position.”
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the former PDP chairmanship candidate said after the election he realised that APC was the party that had a clear vision and idea of taking Nigeria to the next level of economic transformation.
He said he had no choice than to join the party with all his supporters across the area council to move the country forward, and assured that he and his supporters would join hands to work vigorously to ensure the victory of APC in the 2022 elections in the area.
