Prolonged period of implementation resulting to programme fatigue has been identified as one of the challenges facing the successful administration of the COVID-19 vaccination. The statement was made at a one-day media orientation workshop on COVID-19 mass vaccination campaign organised in Abuja by Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria (BAN) in collaboration with the FCT Primary Health Care Development Board (FCTPHCDB).

Some of the challenges identified include vaccine hesitancy across all segments of the society, poor programme funding, poor internet services as well as frequent change of guidelines.

Giving a breakdown of the vaccination, Dr. Ruqayya Wammako, a FCTPHCDB Director, said out of the over five million residents of the FCT, 450,171 have been vaccinated in the 1st and 2nd phases.
