The Chamba Cultural Development Association (CCDA), Diaspora, Adamawa and Taraba states, has urged the elite of the ethnic group to emulate and even do better than a former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen TY Danjuma, for socio-economic development.

Mr Sopkonso Kaigama, President of CCDA, made the call yesterday in Abuja during a one-day seminar on poverty alleviation/empowerment by the TY Danjuma Foundation.

He said, “We urge our retired civil servants and those who are still in service to find ways of attracting support to CCDA. Let us, with all sincerity, emulate our patrons, especially, His Excellency, TY Danjuma.

“In every society, the youths constitute a very important segment. Therefore, it becomes very compelling and somewhat very inevitable to give the youths a very special thrust and economic empowerment.

“The technological skills acquired could and will be very useful for the development of our rural folks. Indeed, the days of white collar jobs are over, our youths ought to imbibe and swim into the age of technology.”

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of CCDA, Esthon Gapsiso, said that the formal commencement of the third leg of the programme was designed to develop and change the landscape of Chamba people in Nigeria through the Chamba Socio-Economic Development Initiative (CSDI).

He noted that the event was coming after those that were held in Ganye, Adamawa State, and in Jalingo, Taraba State.
