The inaugural Lady Captain’s Tournament at the Sadique Baba Abubakar (SBA) Golf Club ended on a triumphant note for the winners, who emerged from a highly competitive field to claim top honours at the landmark event.
Held from May 28 to 30, the tournament attracted golfers from across the country to celebrate the inauguration of Lady Captain Mowaninuola Adeladan and the beginning of a new era for the club. The three-day competition featured categories for professionals, caddies, veterans, ladies and guest players.
Leading the list of champions was Oide Blessing, who delivered an outstanding performance to win the ladies’ category. Returning a gross score of 95 off a handicap of 29 for a net score of 66, Blessing finished ahead of a strong field that included Ladipo Olubusola, Agnes David, Bella Smith and Iyabo Ogunnaike.
In the men’s division, Alli Sunday showcased remarkable consistency and precision to secure victory with a gross score of 71 off a handicap of 10 for a net score of 62. His performance earned him the top prize in one of the tournament’s most keenly contested categories.
Adenike Salihu also celebrated success after emerging winner in the guest players’ category. With a gross score of 95 off a handicap of 24, Salihu finished ahead of Nike Festus to claim the title.
The veterans’ category produced another deserving champion in Oseni Elamah, whose gross score of 101 off a handicap of 28 translated to a net score of 73, enough to finish ahead of Rasaki Muritala.
For the winners, the tournament represented more than individual success. It marked participation in a historic event that showcased competitive golf, strengthened friendships across clubs and set the stage for future championships under the leadership of Lady Captain Adeladan.
