The roll of the honourees includes: Mr Kunle Adebayo, Barr George Ezezika, Dr Patrick Madu, Dame Esom Nwafor-Orizu, Princess Joy Okoye, Mrs Ifeyinwa Odika, Mrs Grace Okoye, Mrs Joyce Gomina, Mrs Maria Okwulehie and Sir James Okwuibe.
Similarly, four persons were made patrons of the chapel. They are: Dr Aboki Zhawa, Engr Dan Mbanaso, Hon Justice Loku Sodipe (JCA) and HRM Josephine Diete-Spiff.
The church was electric as the recipients stepped forward to receive their awards. The congregation applauded as citations were read on the honourees. They received plaques bearing their names and positions of honour.
The Vicar, Dr Louis Ochei, said the honourees were picked for touching lives of people.
He said his church, apart from teaching the scriptures, organises tutorials for students for which the church pays.
According to him, they give food to the law school students especially during their examinations. He said the church has been preaching against examination malpractice.
On the security situation in the country, he called on Nigerians to cry to God.
“God has the manual to every problem. What we sincerely need to do is to go back to the manufacturer. God made this nation Nigeria and if there is a crack anywhere, the only thing we need do is to ask He who made the nation what is wrong and what we need to do. We need to sincerely cry to God. We are not doing it sincerely. There needs to be passion for what we do. We are 50 years and we are not there!
“The bible in Chronicle 14:14 says if my people who are wailing call my name, humble themselves and cry…if we sincerely do that, something great will happen!”
One of the award recipients, Aboki Zhawa who aspires to go to the senate under the FCT said, “The award is spectacular because it is a call to serve God and humanity. And there is no greater award than to be recognised as a servant of our Lord Jesus. Every other award will perish in the world but the one you get in the church will lead to your further one in heaven. This is significant because I have been called to service that will eventually see me in heaven.”
He said there is need to enact programmes that will move the people urging Nigerians to shun indiscipline and learn to be self-righteous.
