Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, has declared the readiness of his team to win the Unity Cup final.

Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semi-final to reach the final where they will face Jamaica in a repeat of last year’s final.

Speaking to the media ahead of the final against the World Cup-bound Raggae Boyz of Jamaica, Chelle revealed that the team’s mentality is fully switched to winning the 2026 Unity Cup either in regulation time or on penalties.

“Penalties are part of the game and it can decide who wins a match,” Chelle started.

“Every time I go into a game, I have the mentality to win. This is the culture I have put in these boys – the winning culture.

“I don’t know if Saturday’s game will end in penalties; what I know is that I have prepared my team to win.”

The Super Eagles paraded several debutants in the victory over Zimbabwe, including the two goals hero Femi Azeez, and Chelle says they are hungry and prepared for success against Jamaica.

“These are very young players with a bright future and they are hungry for success at any level.

“So, on Saturday, we will see how the game is decided, but we surely have prepared to win and defend the Unity Cup.”

Nigeria, the only winner of the Unity Cup since its inception, face Jamaica at the Valley stadium in London, on Saturday, May 30, at 7:30pm.
