Hundreds of women and activists are now on the streets of Lagos protesting the abduction of girl students ofGovernment Girls College, Chibok, Bornu State by members of Boko Haram.
The protesters being led by the Aishat Oyebode, kick-started
their protest from NNPC filling Station, Ikoyi.
They stormed the UNICEF office at Luggard avenue Ikoyi. They are currently heading towards Falomo under bridge.
The protesters carried different placards with inscriptions such as, “we want our girls”, “bring back our girls”, among others. Some of the placards also have the names of the missing female students with big question marks.
Addressing the protesters, UNICEF Chief of Lagos Field Office, Ms Sara
Beysolow Nyanti said the UN agency shares the plights of Nigerians especially the parents of the missing kids, saying as a partner in the advocacy of children rights, the agency will always do everything within its power to preserve those rights especially as it affects education, health and safety.
