The presidential committee on the rescue of the abducted female students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, today interacted with officials of countries that have pledged help in rescuing the captives.

The spokesman of the committee, Mr. Kingsley Osadolor, disclosed this in a statement made available to State House correspondents.

Osadolor said the interaction, which lasted for hours took place in Abuja and covered issues within the terms of reference of the committee.

He quoted the chairman of the committee, General Ibrahim Sabo (rtd),  as thanking the officials and their governments for obliging to support the Federal Government in its bid to free the abducted schoolgirls.

Osadolor said Sabo described the global response to the abduction as a reflection of “our common humanity”.

The committee’s spokesman also quoted the officials as expressing their enthusiasm in joining the search for the abducted schoolgirls.

He added that the committee was scheduled to have further interactions with defence and security agencies with a view to ascertaining the veracity of speculations that had been making the rounds since the girls were abducted.

Osadolor also disclosed that representatives of Borno State Government, who were absent during the inauguration of the committee last week, attended today’s meeting, saying they were due to participate in all activities of the committee.
