Chief Akor Andiir U17 maiden tourney kicks off July 20 in Benue

The maiden Chief Akor Andiir and Benue State Football Association U17 tournament will kick off on Saturday 20th July 2024 at the JS Tarka Stadium, Gboko.

The kick-off date of the tournament was announced by the Chairman of Benue state FA, Chief Barrister Paul Edeh. He added that the competition will be played across the state to unearth and give opportunities to young players.

Before the announcement, the state FA signed a partnership memorandum of understanding (MoU) with one of the foremost transport companies in the state.

 Hence, Flight Transport Services on Saturday became the official transport partner of the Benue State Football Association.

The state U17 football tournament, named after the proprietor of the transport company, Chief Comrade Akor Andiir, will contribute to the development of football in Nigeria by discovering hidden talents for the underage national teams.

The state FA, however,  promised to donate medals, a giant trophy, and 50 balls in support of the competition.

In addition, the state FA Chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh said he will sponsor the four coaches in the semi-final on a free coaching course at the National Institute for Sports.

The organiser announced Monday 15th July, 2024 as the commencement date for registering interested clubs, adding that registration closes once the target of twenty teams has been achieved.
