First Lady Aisha Muhammadu Buhari says despite efforts by the three arms of government to curb child labour, it remains a threat to the country.

She spoke yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during the National Children Conference in Commemoration of the 2022 World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL).

Mrs Buhari, represented by Kwara State First Lady and Secretary of the Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum, Mrs Olufolake Abdul-Razaq, said eradication of child labour requires a systematic approach and effective policies to strengthen social protection systems, education, and decent work opportunities for parents and caregivers to address the conditions that drive child labour.
