Unknown persons suspected to be cultists have opened the grave of a child and taken away the corpse  in Yobe State.

The incident occurred at the Nahuta graveyard in Potiskum LGA, sparking fear and concern among residents.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the Potiskum Divisional Police headquarters, upon receiving the report, mobilised officers to the scene, conducted an on-the-spot assessment and commenced investigation. He disclosed that earlier this month, a similar case of grave desecration was recorded in Jakusko LGA, adding that efforts to track down the perpetrators are ongoing.

SP Abdulkarim said the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify surveillance, strengthen patrols around cemeteries, and ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.
