The World Health Organisation recently declared that the Ebola Virus Disease had been contained in Nigeria and Senegal.
Nigeria’s last case was reported on September 8, just as the last set of patients under observation were recently discharged from hospital after a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, imported the disease to Lagos.  
China’s Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Gu Xiaojie told guests at a reception to mark his country’s 65th National Day celebration in Abuja Tuesday that the Chinese people shared the woes and stood together with the Nigerian people against the epidemic, while applauding country’s achievements in containing it.
As a mark of further solidarity, the ambassador said besides the earlier donation of $4.9 million to Ebola-hit Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 18, announced an additional aid package of $32.5 million for countries in the region including Nigeria to combat Ebola.
The ambassador said bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China has been maintaining good momentum and experiencing unprecedented vigour as evidenced by the increase in trade volume between the two countries to $8.66 billion in the first half of 2014, representing 43.8% increase over the same period last year.
“The results of China-Nigeria cooperation are fully exhibited in growing local employment, upgraded infrastructure, improving livelihood of the people. The Chinese side would like to make joint efforts with the Nigerian side to further strengthen high-level contacts, deepen practical cooperation and expand people-people and cultural exchanges to promote the relationship to a new level for the benefit of the two countries and peoples”, he said.
