No fewer than 1,500 people are expected to secure employment from the Vynolyn Chinese shoes factory located at Kijawal village in Ringim local government area of Jigawa state.
The rubber shoes making company established by Chinese foreign investors, the Lee Group has at commencement of operation provided both direct and indirect employment to 200 people in the state.
Speaking during the commissioning of the company Governor Mohammad Abubakar Badaru said to maintain the tempo of wooing investors the public sector must continue to play a facilitative role.
Badaru expressed commitment towards repositioning the socio-economic position of the state, saying the coming of Lee Group to Jigawa was a clear testimony that the new economic policy direction of the state was on course.
“It is indeed another milestone in the history of the state as we have gathered to commission the Vinylon Footwear Industry Ltd. The first phase of Lee Group of companies designed to have a total of six large scale industries on completion.
“Our tremendous resource bases, both human and material are eagerly awaiting explo said the governor.
The Chairman of Lee Group, Mr. Sheau Fung Lee said Vinylon Footwear Company had provided employment to 200 people and that when the company start production at its optimum capacity it will provide jobs to 1,500 people in the state.
The chairman said the Group had provided employment to 25,000 Nigerians so far.
He pointed out that the industry was producing 20,000 pairs of shoes and would make120,000 shoes at its optimal capacity.
Lee said that plan was also in the pipeline to establish a sugar cane production firm in the state, saying the company would soon go into rice and tomatoes production as well as juice manufacturing in the state.
“Our group established it first company in Nigeria in 1962 and we have so far provided employment to more than 25,000 local workers in the country in over 50 factories locations. We have also invested more than 200 million US dollars in new projects over the last five years in Nigeria regardless of challenges we faced,” he said.
