The label, which currently has 14 artistes following its merger with MI’s label, Loopy Record Label which he started in 2012, will have Ice Prince, replacing MI as its vice president.
The former Choc City boss will be resuming as president of the Chocolate City Group board which also has Hakeem Bello Osagie as well as Yahaya Maikori and Paul Okeugo, with whom he founded the company in 2005. In that time, the label received over 200 awards to the credit of its artistes.
Maikori, who announced the move on Tuesday via his Twitter handle, said: “Hello everyone it’s my pleasure to announce the team that will be running Chocolate City Music.”
He also notified his followers on the same medium that he wasn’t leaving music as he said: “To clarify I have not left entertainment business … I have merely left the day to day responsibilities of CCM.”
Multi award-winning musician, MI, was signed to Chocolate City as an artiste, and quickly rose to become Africa’s number one rapper in a few years. His creativity and business sensibilities eventually led to his appointment as the vice president of music lablel in 2012 and a sitting member of the board.
