Co-odinator of the Christian Civil Servants Pray Nigeria group, Evangelist Adeyanju Israel, who spoke with Sunday Trust said it had become necessary to commit the state of affairs of the nation to prayer.
“What is happening in our nation now calls for prayers. As stakeholders, because we draw our salaries from the federal government purse,  and we have nowhere else to call our own, we have to cry out to God to restore peace in our country, because if anything happens to Nigeria, we have nowhere to go” he said.
He added that the Wednesday prayer session which is the second had the theme: You Shall Not Be Defeated; to give hope to Nigerians as the security situation in the country is deteriorating and becoming hopeless.
Israel, who is of the Isaac Foundation, an evangelism organisation, said beyond praying for peace to reign in Nigeria, the civil servants also asked God to help them “live lives of intergrity and honesty in the civil service so that the smear of corruption the civil service is wearing will be erased.We also prayed for Mr. President and the people in authority so that they can lead this great country to the promised land.”
He said those who are prophesizing that the 2015 general elections will be violent shall be disappointed as the civil servants are prepared to continue praying so that God will thwart the plans of evil people, adding that God is the God of mercy and will listen to prayers been offered for peaceful conduct of the elections.
He advised politicians to play politics with decorum, fearing God and putting the interest of the public before their ambitions.
