Members were colourfully dressed and attendance was large. Different groups danced and food was generously served. In his doctrine sermon during the extra-ordinarily long service, the Station Minister in-charge of Gods Kingdom Society North-central Zone, Bro Moses K. Bazunu told the congregation that the popularly held belief that Jesus was born on December 25th was erroneous.
According to him, he was born in October because biblical stories point to the fact that Mary conceived in January and with simple arithmetic, one could see that Jesus was born in October.
During question and answer session, the preacher told the gathering that speaking in tongues was wrong saying it was a gift given to the apostles and it ended with them.
Hinging his position on Acts 2:8, he said speaking in tongues was used for communication and conviction. “Tongues should be for those who don’t believe—it shouldn’t be free for all,” Bazunu stressed.
He said contrary to the belief that God answers prayers late at night, God answers prayers any time so night vigils were unnecessary. He quoted Luke 6:11 saying, “Because Nigeria is a lawless society, people make noise to disturb the neighbourhood in the name of worship.” He lamented that at different times, young girls have been violated because they went out for night prayers.
Bazunu equally picked holes with the power of healing professed by many ministers saying, “All these miracles, they do in the stadia, you cannot trace those healed. In the bible, the man at the Beautiful Gate was known by all. Here, you cannot trace them. they live in Kaduna, Port-Harcourt…”
The minister said we should tell fellow beings where they have gone wrong because John 7:24 allows us to judge if we are righteous. According to him, problem comes where the person judging is equally not clean.
