Church distributes N3m to widows, others in Plateau

The church under its Community Integrated Health Development (TEAM-CIHDA) also distributed different health kits to members of the community

The ECWA Church has doled out N3 million to 120 households in Kabong Central Community, in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.

Each household received N25,000 to alleviate their sufferings.

Prominent among the beneficiaries were widows, aged persons and youths.

The church under its Community Integrated Health Development (TEAM-CIHDA) also distributed different health kits to members of the community.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Sylvanus Boniface, said the various interventions carried out in their community by TEAM-CHIDA had impacted positively on them.

“What TEAM-CIHDA has done has impacted our lives as a community. Several NGOs have visited our community, yet we have not felt their impact the way we have benefitted from TEAM-CHIDA.

“Some of us benefitted from the training on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), which was quite educative and we have also enlightened some of our youths on the dangers of SGBV,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Yop Sunday, 59, said the cash would impact her life and that of her children because they have been going through hard times.

Mrs Sunday, who is a widow and mother of five, explained that during the COVID-19 lockdown last year, TEAM-CIHDA also assisted the community financially.

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Jummai Daniel, a mother of eight and also a widow, said she would use the money to settle her house rent and pay her children’s school fees.

The Coordinator of TEAM-CIHDA, Ezekiel Bala, said they would continue to assist communities.
