The conference which opened in Abuja on Wednesday will close on Tuesday.

Tagged “days of glory”, the conference considers solutions to issues currently bedeviling Nigeria such as poverty, insecurity, flooding and lack of leadership direction.

Speaking at the opening of the gathering, the Founder and Senior Pastor of the Summit Bible Church, Dr Andy Osakwe stressed that the conference will help in taking Nigeria back to its glory days as one of the leading nations in the world.

“The conference teaches the people the need to live in peace and look inward in tackling their problems.

“Nigeria has got enough resources to tackle poverty. Our leaders need a change of mind to manage our resources properly,” Osakwe expressed.

He said there is leadership crisis in the country because the church has slept for too long.

He noted, “The church cannot stay away from politics as the people that work in government are members of religious centres in the country.”

Osakwe said Nigerians must learn how to secure themselves but must not allow fear to grip them.

“Knowledge helps to tackle fear. Having security knowledge will help. Experts are coming to teach Nigerians the act achieving that,” he stated.

On floods in Nigeria, the cleric said Summit 2012 will bring up measures to avoid future disasters.

The church is donating relief materials to those displaced by the floods.

Notable speakers from Nigeria and abroad including Rev Victor Atokolo, Bishop John Praise, Pastor Jason Younger and Dr Nasir Siddiki are participants in the conference.
