The ICPC and EFCC are the anti-craft agencies established by law to fight and rid the Nigerian society of all forms of corruption.

Okoh gave the charge at a debate on “Corruption in our society: Who is responsible, the man or the woman?” organised by the church in Abuja.

He decried the high rate of corruption in the country, which he said had eaten deep into the fabric of the society.

Okoh, who was the moderator of the debate, called for a concerted effort from both men and women to curb corruption in the country.

He explained that corruption had impacted negatively on both the public and private sectors of the economy and dented the image of the country.

Speakers at the debate traced corruption to the book of Genesis, Chapter 2 verses 15 to 18, when Adam was deceived by Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Mr Emmanuel Eberechukwu, the lead speaker for the men, said that women were not always favoured in political appointments in Nigeria because of alleged corruption.

He said that women were noted for allegedly undermining the authorities of men, which sometime led to frictions in the matrimonial homes.

“Men are always under pressure because of the quest to satisfy women. This sometime lead them to commit atrocities,’’ said Mr Patrick Enyinthin, another speaker at the debate.

Speaking on behalf of the womenfolk, the lead speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ejanani, argued that corruption in our society was perpetrated mostly by men.

“God’s purpose for our lives is that all men should live fruitful and useful lives that can impact positively on others,’’ she said.
