The Executive Director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Ibrahim Rafsanjani, has urged journalists to monitor utilisation of budgets allocated for defence and security in Nigeria.
He spoke on Thursday at a one-day media workshop on “Defence anti-corruption reportage, civic space, and oversight,” held in Duragi Hotel, Yola.

The workshop was aimed at enhancing the capacity of media personnel in areas within the defence and security sector budgetary process and expenditure for effective journalism.
Rafsanjani said, “Many people known and unknown to us have been killed, maimed, kidnapped, and robbed of their loved ones, property and sources of livelihood. Terrorists’ attacks and kidnapping for outrageous ransom have become a norm in Nigeria.
“The question is: Who will be the next victim? We must as a matter of urgency begin to question the actions and in-actions of government and to demand accountability for budgetary allocations meant for defence and security.”
