The City Boy Movement in Ogun West Senatorial District has commended Dapo Abiodun for what it described as “historic leadership” in producing Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) as the consensus gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group said the governor had “broken the long-standing succession jinx in Ogun State through the emergence of a credible and widely accepted consensus candidate.”
The group also congratulated Adeola, on his emergence, describing him as “a worthy, people-oriented, and ready-made successor.”
According to the statement, Governor Abiodun’s “visionary leadership, political maturity, and commitment to the stability and progress of Ogun State have once again been demonstrated through this bold and strategic decision.”
It added that by choosing Adeola, the governor had “laid a solid foundation for continuity, good governance, and sustainable development in the state.”
Speaking further, the group said Senator Yayi’s “outstanding contributions to infrastructure development, coupled with his track record of delivering impactful, people-centered projects, clearly distinguish him as a leader prepared for the task ahead.”
The statement noted that his “commitment to grassroots engagement and socio-economic advancement continues to inspire confidence across the state,” adding that his emergence reflects “the trust reposed in his leadership” and “the collective desire of the people for experienced, responsive, and result-driven governance.”
The City Boy Movement pledged total support for both leaders, assuring that it would mobilize its structures to ensure victory at the polls.
“We hereby assure both Your Excellency and Senator Adeola-Yayi of our unwavering loyalty and total support. We are fully committed to mobilizing our structures and grassroots network to ensure a resounding victory at the polls,” the statement read.
It further stated that “this moment marks the beginning of a new era of progress and prosperity for Ogun State,” expressing readiness to contribute to the vision.
The statement was signed by the Coordinator of the group, Ayodeji Idowu, who reiterated the group’s commitment.
“We believe this moment marks the beginning of a new era of progress and prosperity for Ogun State, and we stand ready to play our part in achieving this shared vision,” Idowu said.
