Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has imported 150 Sniffer dogs from Russia and Ukraine to be deployed for tomorrow’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

Deputy Commandant General of the Corps in charge of Operations, Evans Uwurum revealed this while speaking with Journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

“We are not here on jamboree, we are not here to shoot anybody, we are not hunters. We are here to create enabling environment for a credible election in Ekiti State.”

He said with the negative reports emanating from the State, the Corps was not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring a peaceful poll.

“Because of what we heard, we have mobilized over 15,000 personnel to cover all 16 local government in Ekiti State. Every polling unit must be covered by the presence of the Corps.

“We have also mobilized our sniffer dogs, the latest dogs that arrived from Russia and Ukraine are all here to be deployed to all the hot spots.

“What we know is that come tomorrow 21st June, 2014, elections must hold in Ekiti State and it must be free and fair and credible.

“We have told people who do not have anything to do with the election to leave quickly as possible. Before 6:00 pm today, they must have evacuated all nook and cranny of the state.

He said the Corps did a show of force on Thursday which will be repeated on Friday to alert prospective trouble makers that the security forces were ready for any eventuality.

Meanwhile, a drive around Ado-Ekiti on Friday, showed a calm atmosphere  for now, contrary to reports making the rounds.

Security agents- Police, Army and the NSCDC- are stationed in strategic positions in the Ekiti State capital to ensure security ahead of the election.
