The Chairman Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Joan Ayo, has received the  African Child Prize 2016 for her integrity in public service.
The African Child Foundation, a Ghanaian non-governmental organization based in Nigeria, gave her the award in Accra, Ghana.
The organizers said the award was in recognition of her integrity in public service apart from her being listed into the United Nations Volunteers for Africa (UNVA), as an individual with exceptional positive qualities worthy of emulation.
The Country Representative of the foundation, Sir Onosakponome said: “Being the first female Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, DNS Ayo has brought some innovations/reforms to the commission. She is credited with the introduction of a merit-based promotion exercise conducted on annual basis, advertisement of vacancies and on-line recruitment.”
He said that the chairman also saw to the review of guidelines on recruitment, promotion and discipline, to ensure a balance in reward and sanction; as well as strict adherence to rules and regulations and extant circulars in the conduct of activities at the FCSC.

African Child Foundation has prominent Africans like Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. Patrick Igbigbi and Prof. J. O. Enaohwo as members of its advisory board.
