Civil Society Organizations have expressed their disappointment over the late submission of Nigeria’s Intended Nationally Determined Action (INDC) report under the United Nations Framework on Climate Change.
Each country was mandated to submit the INDC as part of plans on how it intends to tackle the impact of climate change.
Mr. Atayi Baba, National Network Coordinator for Climate and Sustainable Development Network (CSD), revealed at a National Consultative workshop on Nigeria’s Road to Paris held in Abuja that Nigeria had not submitted her INDC.
According to him, INDC is not a government document but something that should be disseminated country wide, adding that this is not being done in Nigeria.
“The critical segment of the civil society and the Nigeria media is not represented in the INDC process and that is why we are saying it is wrong,” Baba said.
Atayi noted that countries like Egypt, Kenya and Benin Republic have submitted their INDC reports.
