A statement by the group’s national coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammed and the publicity secretary, Abubakar Mahmoud, said Buhari’s victory was a manifestation of his consistent and persistent desire to pilot the ship of the nation in the right direction.
The March 28 presidential election has recreated a bond of unity across ethnic, religious and political divides, it said.
“Despite the tense political atmosphere that preceded the election, Nigerians allowed democratic process to flow in its natural form to the admiration of international communities and the world at large,” the statement added.
It commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his timely and patriotic act of conceding defeat which of course, contributed in no small measure in averting possible post election violence in the country.
“For conceding defeat at that critical time of the election, President Jonathan has displayed sportsmanship. We salute his humility despite defeat,” the statement said.
