The Coalition for Justice and Democracy (CJD) has expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Eket Ibas, over the ongoing emergency measures in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its president, Comrade Raymond Aighona, the group commended President Tinubu for what it described as a timely intervention that helped stabilise Rivers after months of political unrest.

The coalition also praised the leadership of Ibas, noting that his administration had operated under strict oversight by committees of the National Assembly established to monitor governance in Rivers during the emergency period.

“Every action of the Sole Administrator is monitored by oversight committees from both the Senate and the House of Representatives. His expenditures are scrutinised and subjected to due process,” Aighona stated.

The group urged the public to disregard misinformation circulating on social media and called on security agencies to track the sources of such reports, warning that they could inflame tensions in the state.

According to the CJD, the emergency measures have prevented a total breakdown of order and restored a measure of peace and governance in Rivers.

“President Tinubu acted to save Rivers, not to exploit it. Ibas has executed that mandate with dignity. He deserves commendation,” the group said.

The coalition reaffirmed its continued support for both the President and the Sole Administrator, urging Rivers people to unite behind the ongoing stabilisation efforts.
