Justice Mukhtar gave the advice Friday at the Annual National Conference and National Glow Conference of the National Association of Women Judges, Nigeria (NAWJN) in Abuja.
“Being humble does not make you a lesser being; it will make people to like you more,” she said.
Earlier the president of NAWJN, Justice Helen Ogunwumiju said the aim of the conference is to sensitize police officers on the recurrent criminal offences in the society such as rape, defilement, kidnapping and violence against women.
In a lecture titled: ‘Glow: Women Leading the Exploration,’ Mrs Folake Solanke, Nigeria’s first female senior advocate called for direct funding of the judiciary as provided by the constitution.
She urged female judges to manage their homes better by teaching their children good virtues, enforce the dress code for court rooms, and write good judgements with “excellent prose and ‘ratio decidendi’ (rationale for decision).”
The highlight of the event was the CJN’s presentation of new training handbooks on kidnapping, rape, and defilement produced by the association in English, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo.
