An Ejigbo chief magistrate’s court has handed a six-year jail term to a self-acclaimed clergyman for engaging a young lady in rounds of sex in the guise that he was conducting deliverance on her.

The convict, Emmanuel Jonah, 43, was also accused of defrauding the young lady of the sum of N270,000 and an Android phone.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. Layeni, found Jonah guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly for deceit and stealing from the victim who was devastated over the act.

The magistrate said the prosecutor had proven the allegation beyond any reasonable doubt and found the defendant guilty as charged.

Earlier, the prosecutor said the victim fell into the trap of the accused at Jakande Estate, during which he (convict) gave the victim prophecies that seemed to be true in her life in order to lure her.

The prosecutor further said that the convict deceived the victim into believing that her parents will die anytime from that period because of what the enemies had planned for them, as a result of which the victim became jittery and after which the convict took her to a church where they met other suspected fraudsters who gave her more prophecies.

According to the victim, they eventually directed the prophecy towards her and informed her of impending death.

“They claimed that strange spirit was following her which had made it impossible for her to progress in life. She was then asked to remove her clothes and remain naked for spiritual bath. In the process, they had another vision that she should allow Pastor Jonah to engage her in serious deliverance by sleeping with her and she complied.

“However, after they were done with her she was allowed to go and wait for more directives from them. She was also asked to look for more money before she regained her senses and informed her relations that she had already borrowed money for the prayer,” the prosecutor said.
