An Abuja-Based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Yahya Al-Yolawi has advised the security agencies to evolve new strategies to curtail the incessant kidnappings on Abuja-Kaduna Highway and other parts of the country.

Al-Yolawi, who is the Chief Imam of Area 10 Garki Mosque, gave the advice while delivering Jumma’at sermon entitled, “Islamic Ruling on Rubbery and Kidnappings“, on Friday in Abuja.

“I will like to seize this opportunity to appeal to Federal Government, through our security agencies, to intensify and put more efforts in tackling robbery, killings and kidnapping in our society.

” Most especially the affected areas like Zamfara, Katsina, Nasarawa Kogi, and currently Kaduna- Abuja road that is almost be coming daily affairs.

“I also call on the generality of Muslim Umma to pray, repent and seek forgiveness from Allah as well as report any suspicious move in their locality to the security agencies,” Al-Yolawi said.

The cleric said that kidnapping, physical and pen robbery were forbidden in Islam, adding that it was a punishable offence in Islam.

“Allah says O you who have believed, do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly but only in lawful business by mutual consent.

“According to Qur’an, Sunnah and consensus of the scholars, Allah has condemned this action and decreed an appropriate punishment for it.”

Al-Yolawi said Muslims were forbidden to transgress on other peoples` rights or property.
“The messenger of Allah says, do not envy each other, do not outbid each other, do not hate each other, do not turn away from each other and do not outsell each other.

“Rather, be servants of Allah as brothers, the Muslim is the brother of another Muslim.

“He does not wrong him or humiliates him or looks down upon him.” (NAN)
