An Islamic scholar, Ustadh Shefiu Badmos, has charged Muslims to continue to showcase the beauty of Islam by being an embodiment of highest moral values in the society.
The cleric, who is the Chief Imam of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Quarters’ Mosque, Kubwa, Abuja, spoke at a Post Ramadan Lecture organised by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of Organization of Tadhamunul Muslimeen (OTM).
He said the collapse of family as a reformation institution was responsible for moral decadence in the society, calling on Muslims to hold on to the injunctions of Allah and obey his Prophet in their day-to-day activities.
The cleric, while speaking on “Manifestation of Corruption in the Society and the Methods of Reforms”, urged Muslims to be advocates against corruption.
He also urged the adherents of Islam to be mindful of their actions in working places, and urged them to report cases of corruption to the appropriate authorities.
“Talk to your colleagues on the evils of their actions and don’t join them in bad acts. You don’t need to keep quiet because of the repercussions that won’t differentiate the saint from the corrupt,” he added.
He identified nepotism, breach of contractual agreement, flagrant violation of laws without punishment, bad governance, and trampling upon people’s rights as some of the various manifestations of corruption.
On the coming general elections, he charged Muslims to vote for upright leaders and urged them not to allow disappointment discourage them from participating in the electioneering process.
In his contribution, Dr Ismail Salahuddiin (Ibnus-Salah), a lecturer at the University of Abuja, urged Muslims to be steadfast on the path of Allah to overcome the temptations of corruption.
