An Islamic cleric, Imam Abdulrasheed Mogbotoluwa has urged the Nigerian leaders not to allow greed overtake them in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities to the citizenry.

The cleric said lack of contentment is the bane of Nigeria, adding that the urge to amass wealth is fuelling corruption in the public sector.

Mogbotoluwa, who is the Amir of Allahullateef Islamic Foundation, spoke in a Ramadan lecture in Lagos.

He said those who are contented with what Allah has bestowed on them, no matter how minute, would live a modest life and feel a sense of fulfilment.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari was widely revered because of his integrity and modest life, adding that despite his many years in government, he never amassed wealth.

Imam Mogbotoluwa noted that contentment is an important quality which Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad enjoined on human beings.
