The Director, Duin International Academy, Kubwa, Abuja, Dr. Rafee Busayree Al-Ijebuwi, has cautioned Muslims against committing idolatry while seeking treatments for illness or other medical attentions.

He gave the advice in Abuja during a one-day awareness workshop on “Clinical Hijaamah Therapy” organized by the Dubim International and Medilam Medical Centre. He said that the people to be called Mushrikuun or Idolators are those involved in shirk by according others than Allah those powers that are peculiar and characteristic of Him. Dr. Al-Ijebuwi, who is also the Chief-Imam of Al-Huda Masjid Byazhin-Kubwa, said those who, for protection or attraction, rely on armlets, amulets and talisman among others are practising minor idolatry that is instrumental to the major idolatry.

He cited Quran verses and sayings of Prophet Muhammad, forbidding Muslims from engaging in activities that divert their trust in Allah to another thing either animate or inanimate. He however clarified that seeking medical help for ailments is not as taking Allah majesty to the treatment in as much as the Muslim believe and trust in Allah alone to grant healings and recovery from the ailments. He also urged Muslims to embraced the known sunnatic or prophetic recommended products like honey, black seed and olive oil among others that can be lawfully used for treatments of ailments but with trust in Allah as the Grand Healer.
