A lecturer at the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan (UI) Professor Abdul-Hafeez Oladosu has urged clerics in the country to assist the Federal Government in the fight against corruption.
Delivering a pre-Ramadan lecture organised by the Muslim Community of Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, Prof Oladosu posited that if both Muslim and Christian clerics join the anti-corruption war, Buhari’s administration would succeed.
Speaking on the theme, “Ramadan as an Instrument of change in a corrupt society”, the don said religious leaders have influence on the followers and  must use  same to preach  to  their followings  to shun corrupt practices .
He said that anti-corruption war should not be seen as the responsibility of the federal government alone, saying that all hands must be on deck to tackle the menace in the best interest of the nation.
According to him, “Corruption is a global problem and wherever you go in any part of the world, you will find it there. Corruption has become endemic in Nigeria and it is good that the current administration of President Buhari is combatting this menace at this moment. So, he needs all of us to win the war against corruption’.
He said President Buhari is getting it right in the fight against corruption with the trial of some individuals including members of his political party such as the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki among others.
