After a barren first half, Chad International striker Ezechiel Ndouassel grabbed the match winner for the visiting Tunisians in the 54th minute.
He picked a through pass from the mid-field and did well to beat on rushing Moses Ocheje who was in goal for Sunshine Stars.
As expected, the home side mounted pressure on their opponents defence but failed to convert their chances with strikers Ibrahim Ajani, Ukeyima Akombo and Dele Olorundare coming close on several occasions.
In two weeks time, Sunshine Stars will be on the road for the return leg in Tunis.
