The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti (FETHI), Dr. Majekodunmi Ayodele, has called for strengthened qualifying professional examinations for medical workers in order to improve professionalism and competence in the sector.
He advised that qualifying examinations offered by medical or nursing students during final year level examinations should  be reviewed to ensure competence.
He stated this during the celebration of 100 percent passes recorded by the 39 final year students of the FETHI’s   School of Nursing in the professional examination conducted by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in Ido Ekiti.
The CMD said that the first set of the three year- old institution recorded the feat in spite of challenges of dearth of personnel and facilities it encountered at inception.
Principal of the institution, Mrs Foluso Adelegan, said the outcome of the examinations has justified the much touted ‘motto’ of the institution to be  a trailblazer in the area of academics  in the country, and to prevent medical tourism.
