The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has condemned reported attacks that occurred between 3 and 4 February 2026 in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.

The Coalition also expressed concern over a separate incident in Katsina State, where more than 20 people were reportedly killed by suspected armed assailants in Doma community, Tafoki Ward of Faskari Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the CNG said reports from local authorities and community sources indicate that many residents were affected by the incidents in Kwara, with several fatalities and others sustaining injuries.

According to the statement, residential buildings, shops and farmlands were damaged during the incidents, leading to the displacement of residents, including women, children and the elderly.

Charanchi said the assailants were reported to have entered the communities and carried out attacks that resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of residents, highlighting ongoing security challenges in some rural areas.

“The Coalition extends its condolences to families who lost loved ones and sympathises with those injured or displaced as a result of these incidents,” he said.

He added that residents, like all Nigerians, are entitled to safety and security, and called for sustained efforts to address security concerns in affected areas.

The CNG called on the Federal Government to consider strengthening security measures, including the recruitment and training of forest guards to complement existing security agencies in vulnerable communities.

The Coalition also urged Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding, while encouraging leaders at all levels to take steps aimed at improving safety and security.

Charanchi noted that while security personnel continue to make efforts on the front lines, recent incidents suggest the need for enhanced strategies, including improved intelligence gathering, early warning mechanisms and increased security presence in high-risk areas.

He further called on authorities to provide relief, medical assistance and support to affected residents, and to ensure that investigations are carried out in line with the law.

According to him, addressing broader social and economic challenges such as unemployment and social exclusion would also contribute to long-term stability.
