Chief Coach of Ondo State Volleyball Association, Bolanle Akinsehinwa, has solicited for the support of private organisations and philanthropists for provision of facilities and equipment for the game to take better shape in the state.

Akinsehinwa, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Akure, noted that beach volleyball was not new in the country but that it had just been added to the number of sports in the state.

“We are aware of the fact that government cannot do it alone. That is why we are calling on private organisations and philanthropists to come to our aid by providing the facilities needed to make the sports a reality in the state,” he said.

Akinsehinwa added that the state needed a 21 by 13 volleyball court and standard beach volleyball court, with balls, jersey and other equipment.

All these, he said, would make the dream of producing future stars a reality in the state.

“Currently, we are just improvising by training at the long and triple jump court at the back of the synthetic pitch at the  sports complex, to ensure that players get acclimatised to sandy surfaces,” he said. (NAN)
