Soon after Lobi lost 1-7 to Liga Muculmana of Mozambique, the coach said his former club had dragged the image of the country into the mud by losing scandalously against the club from Mozambique.
He is also said to have cast doubt on the technical ability of the Dominic Iorfa led technical crew of Lobi Stars.
However, Coach Ichull who is the assistant secretary of National Association of Nigerian coaches said Tenger has displayed unprofessional behaviour and deserves to be reprimanded.
He said the former Niger Tornadoes coach should have taken into consideration the circumstances that led to Lobi Stars defeat before condemning the team and its handlers.
Ichull said even as Iorfa himself has not reacted to the venom poured on him by Tenger, he has decided on his own to respond because as a national official, the two colleagues are under his canopy.
“The loss of Lobi Stars in the Confederation Cup cannot be attributed solely to Dominic Iorfa the way my brothers, especially coach Tenger wants the whole world to know. I am not speaking for Iorfa because he also has his own errors too but the truth must be said. We have to look at what the club went through in Maputo.
“First and foremost the goalkeeper was red carded and after the penalty against Lobi, all the other goals came as a result of offside tactics. This is where nobody can argue with the referees. So if you look at it critically, Iorfa had little or nothing to do with Lobi’s defeat.
“It was a planned issue and there was no way Lobi or Iorfa would have escaped the wrath of the referee. Our laws state that no coach should drag the name of his colleagues into the mud. Most of them argue that Dominic is not a coach but he is a coach whether we like it or not.
“Our statues maintain that once you have played football, you are qualified to be a coach. It does not mean you must attend a conventional school. Once you have the experience you can be registered. I doubt if Tenger himself is registered. I am the secretary of the association in Benue State and I would have known if he is a registered member.
Ichull further regretted that despite their wealth of experience, the trio of Moses Kpakor, Dominic Iorfa and Justin Tenger have refused to come together for the benefit of Benue State football and coaches.
