The acting Head Coach of Lobi Stars, Coach John Onuh, popularly called “Abacha,” has described his first victory in charge of the former Nigerian champions as a morale booster.

In Onuh’s first match, Lobi Stars defeated visiting Sokoto United 2-0 at their adopted home ground Lafia City Stadium on Saturday to end the first stanza of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference C on a high.

With the victory, Lobi Stars who were two places away from the drop zone have moved up to 4th position with 10 points, six adrift of table toppers Doma United.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Onuh expressed confidence that in the second stanza, Lobi Stars would recover all lost ground.

“I am happy that I started my reign on a winning note. The result is no doubt a big motivation as we begin to prepare for the second round.

“Although we were unable to pick points on the road in the first stanza, by the grace of God, the second round is going to be different.

“We shall go all out for at least two away victories to bolster our chances of picking the sole promotion ticket from the group.

He also thanked the management of Lobi Stars for reposing confidence in his ability to lead the technical crew.

Coach Onuh, therefore, called for all hands to be on the deck as he said unity is a must for the club to make immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
